Orgullo alicantino

It's rumored, it's said, that it's easier to succeed anywhere in the world than in your own birthplace; being a prophet in your own land is a very difficult task. We know this; we know our city very well.

Our Alicante of birth, but above all we know its ordinary citizens, those who when they leave Alicante for one reason or another, shout to the four winds: I am from Alicante; I am a drunk and refined Alicante native, I am from Alicante, the best land in the world, and countless expressions that we use outside but here in our land it is different.

In our humble opinion, we believe that we are not a city that fully commits to "our things," and when we say "things," we mean our traditions, our sports, our culture, our festivals, our gastronomy, our fashion, and so on. It's a shame because the foundations are there, we have potential, even people and associations that try very hard, but there isn't a total commitment supported by the vast majority of the city.

In our own personal crusade, we face an even greater challenge, but it's not impossible. We aim to highlight the iconic landmarks of our city. We want to showcase what is possibly the most majestic castle, with the most beautiful love story ever told: our Santa Bárbara Castle. We want everyone who visits us to know that we have a mosaic painted with three colors, unique in the world, where they can stroll among the palm trees while gazing at the sea—our Explanada. With a simple t-shirt, we intend to show the world that in Spain there is a small city on the Mediterranean coast called Alicante that is truly amazing. We want the young people of our region, and those who are not so young, to wear the word ALC on their chests with pride, instead of NY, PARIS, LONDON, CALIFORNIA, and countless other cities around the world that most of them don't even know exist.

We've been on this journey for three years now, a long one, full of trial and error, successes and failures, attending countless events to build our brand, traveling countless miles, falling down and getting back up stronger and more determined. But the best part of this whole journey is receiving photos from all our fans around the world wearing our t-shirts, proudly displaying them and, above all, always with huge smiles. Photos from Moscow, Thailand, Scotland, London, Paris, Vietnam, Washington, Canada, and more. And of course, we can't forget all the photos we receive daily from our beloved Alicante and other cities in Spain.

We've never written anything before, but this week we received some photos from @alicantede_alex, from the city of skyscrapers, from the most iconic city in the world, none other than New York City. These photos have made us think and reflect that we're on the right track, that step by step more and more people are wearing our DEEF brand. Because our brand isn't just worn, it's worn with passion and pride, and that's what we want to convey to everyone. Those who wear one of our garments have a feeling in their hearts that makes them unique, special. That's why we don't want to be prophets of anything; we simply want, like a few others and a growing number of them, to feel the affection of all the people of Alicante and to ensure that people who weren't born here also proudly and passionately carry our Alicante flag, "for our own."
